It always amazes me how people in this day and time have no time for some of the most important things in life.  Yet they are the first to complain of stress, fatigue, and what a disaster their life is in.
Living a Plain Life involves many aspects of life.  From the Amish to the Mennonite to other Conservative Groups, the attempt to live a simple life is not "so" hard.  Outsiders gawk at their dress, whisper about their separation ... but deep down inside, there are many, many who envy the simplicity of living a Plain Life.  They long for a stress-free life, wish they could "be Amish for a month".

Amish, Mennonites and all Plain People are guess what???  PEOPLE TOO!  God made us all the same and we ALL have the opportunity to live a simple life.  It's not hard.  The main secret is put God first and keep your priorities in order!

While homes split, depression creeps in, eventually sickness and who knows what else.

Don't get me wrong, just because Plain People live a simplistic life, does not mean that they don't have worries, or sadness, or live the life of luxury.  However their focus is on more important things than owning the biggest house, or wearing designer clothes, or keeping their wheels on their car spit shined.

Life is about "helping others".  Whether it be their neighbor, church member, the sick, or just helping out your spouse with daily chores.  It's looking out for someone other than yourselves.  This is way too uncommon today.  Because our entire world is all about "pampering ourselves", "getting facelifts", "buying new clothes to show off", "hanging out with the guys" and so much more.

People today can't even be quiet enough to listen and learn from God, our Creator and miss out on so many special blessings in life.  Not to mention, life such flamboyant lives on this earth and get to the end of their lives to only be doomed to an everlasting place of torment.  So much to sacrifice for "a little pleasure today".

Here's a few excerpts of mini stories of life where the Plain People live simply and enjoy such wonderful treasures.

The Quilting

The Harvest

The Pot of Soup

The Walk

The Clothesline

These and more will soon be available in my new book "Amish Love", coming Winter 2005.  Stories of hope, faith, love, friendship and blessings too numerous to count.
